A certification can be "active", "inactive" or "expired". It is important to know the status of the certification or certifications you hold.

Active certification = visible and attainable

  View the list of current available certifications in Module 6 of the HP Certified Professional Program Guide.

Inactive = not attainable

Inactive certifications can no longer be acquired once they are inactive. They continue to be recognized as part of the HP Certified Professional Program and remain valid toward program benefits. If you are working toward acquiring a certification with an inactive date assigned, you must complete the requirements and acquire the certification before the inactive date; otherwise, you will need to acquire the new version of the certification.

An inactive certification will still appear in your record of certifications. However, they may or may not be accepted as qualifications for your regional HP partner program. Check with your regional partner program for more information.

Expired = not attainable, not recognized

Expired certifications are no longer relevant because the products and technology have changed significantly. If you hold one of these certifications and no other HP certification, you are no longer entitled to receive program benefits associated with the certification. To continue receiving program benefits, update your certification to a valid “active” certification.
