HP certification exams are designed to be challenging and test your "real world" experience with a technology. The supporting courses are intended to supplement your knowledge. Do not expect to pass an HP Certification exam based on the course alone.

Exam preparation

HP exams are designed to assess whether you can successfully perform the tasks required in the identified job role. A certification exam tests both the knowledge developed from your past practical experience, and also topics covered by multiple training courses.

Exam Preparation Guides are available for every certification exam. These guides describe the content, type of exam, required experience, exam topics, number of questions, and list the score you must achieve to pass. Many guides specify recommended HP training, references, and additional study materials. HP highly recommends that you use these additional materials to prepare, since the content they include may be covered on the exam. You can find these guides in The Learning Center under ‘Attachments’ for each exam, or on the ExpertOne website when you view the recommended training for a certification.

About exams

Certification exams may be administered online, at a trade show venue, or at an authorized testing center. Exam question formats may include multiple choice, complex graphical, and written questions, and exam tasks may include virtual lab, and/or hands-on activities, depending on the skills or knowledge being evaluated.

The exam number can be found in The Learning Center, Certification Explorer or on the certification data sheet for the associated certification.

New candidates cannot earn a certification by passing an HP5 exam. All HP5 exam registrations, payments, scheduling and cancellations should be completed by going directly to the following Pearson VUE website: http://www.pearsonvue.com/hp/ . Exam fees vary by country but usually range from $20 USD to $45 USD.
  • Practice exams (PRA-Yxx) are similar in format and content to the actual certification exams and supplement existing training and exam preparation guides. Upon completion of a practice exam you will receive immediate scoring information, including the reasoning behind the questions and the logic behind the answers. This helps you focus your training or studying efforts on specific elements of the content. Learn more about practice exams
